Got the call from NRHA that I’m a $1M rider! Time to reset for the next phase of my career.  

We are currently in Texas–and will be here until the futurity is over. We’re enjoying the good weather and the opportunity to ride outside. The horses are loving it. I’m feeling a new sense of commitment and purpose from them, important for the extra effort they will need for the NRHA Futurity. They’re still searching for a level of confidence and comfort at the new speeds. But I’ve “been there and done that” so many times that I’m quite sure they will get in the groove in time.

The Southwest Futurity was our last event before OKC. I would have liked to have better results, but it was a learning experience for both Sarah and me. Our horses are really broke but not ready for “red lining” yet. We rode into a hornet’s nest and got stung. There are a lot of good horses from down here going to the futurity this year, and they are ready. It’s time to step it up.

Jarred LeClaire won the open with a 226 and Mandy McQuay won the non pro with 222. There were lots of scores over 220. Congratulations to them!

I’m also taking the time to look around down here for our next group of futurity horses and will be seeing a bunch of them. Finished horses as well. If anyone needs something new, let us know. I know where to look and what to look for.
